In March 2020, UDC collaborated with Pitchandikulam Forest Consultants on the restoration of the Navalur lake situated along the ECR. 

The restoration of the lake is aimed towards preservation of the ecosystem while bringing back elements of the ecosystem that have deteriorated due to lack of maintenance and polluting. Involving the community is a crucial aspect of ensuring long term maintenance of such initiatives, An environmental education center, organic restaurant and a co-working space have been conceived to ensure this.   

All the structures are to be built with locally sourced, natural materials to maintain the integrity of the ecosystem.
